Boil That Broccoli!
Broccoli is big time bargain when it comes to dieting. With just 27 calories per half cup, these florets allow you to add bulk to a meal or snack without paying for it. Plus, you’ll get up to three grams of filling fiber. So what are you waiting for? Fire up that stove and rock the broc!
Out With the Salt and In With The Herbs
You can beat the bloat by ousting salt from your diet. However, giving salt the boot doesn’t mean your food has to lose its flavor. Next time you yearn for sodium to season your food reach for herbs instead. Chives complement potatoes and parsley perks up eggs. The options are endless so start exploring what exciting new flavors you can use to spice up your new, salt-free favorites.
Nix White Flour and Feel Full
There is more fiber in whole grain foods such as whole-wheat bread and pasta than their white flour based counterparts. This fiber will help you feel full longer and ultimately lead to less snacking
Let whole grains put sugars to shame
Eating foods high in refined sugar such as cakes, cookies, and even white bread and white rice take your insulin levels on a rollercoaster. You know that spike in energy followed by that mid-morning crash you experience after eating Fruit Loops? You can avoid that unhealthy pattern if you just substitute whole grains like brown rice, oatmeal, and popcorn for those sugary snacks.

Dwell in a downfall
Now, before you write off this Fitbit for being so negative, hear it out. When you overindulge in a fattening dinner or polish off the rest of a left over pie odds are that you try to push the diet defeat out of mind. Instead of ignoring this misstep, dwell in it. Be mindful of how you feel. Does your stomach hurt? Do you have a sugar headache? Recognizing the side effects of a binge will give you a reason to not let them happen again.
Half the hamburger in a hurry
These days restaurants are getting away with serving meals large enough to feed small countries. The average person certainly doesn’t need such immense quantities of food, let alone someone on a diet! Next time you dine out, consider asking the waiter to wrap up half the meal to take home before it gets to your table. You’ll have much more control over your portions- and you’ll have tomorrow’s lunch!
Freeze the fatty treats
Sometimes snacking is just too easy. Put a buffer between you and your guilty sweets by freezing them. Want a piece of chocolate? You’ll have to let it thaw before you indulge. This barrier can transform mindless snacking into a mindful treat.
Snuggle up to the Scale
Studies have shown that people who weigh themselves regularly generally are lighter than those that don’t. This may true because people carefully monitor their weight have more success in controlling it. Step on the scale and know your numbers to take control.

High risk situations require a plan
Dinner parties and club nights almost always lead to unwanted, unplanned calories. The trick to being able to play- but keeping the calories at bay- is planning. Before you leave figure out what you want to consume during your excursion. Want a beer? have a beer! but if you know you're going to have that beer I'd skip dessert at dinner if I were you... Maybe even eat before a dinner party you know will be serving fattening foods so you won't be tempted by spring rolls, deviled eggs, and other forms of weight loss sabotage. Another idea would be to bring a snack you could swap for otherwise unhealthy late night burgers after a night of dancing. I, for one, am not above cramming an apple into a tiny clutch.
Pick a hobby and lose weight with friends
Hiking, painting, biking. Whether or not its a physical activity explore your and your friends' interests. Come up with something you and your group can do to socialize that doesn't revolve around food. This way- instead of frozen yogurt dates or elaborate dinners out you can spend time with your friends doing things you all love! If that isn't killing two birds with one stone I don't know what is...
Wait! actually, its three birds! spending time with friends, doing your favorite hobby, AND losing weight!

Every calorie counts in the game of weight loss
if you've been having trouble losing weight take a look at your calorie intake. Many people overestimate how many calories they should be consuming and they underestimate how may calories they actually consume. Get yourself straight by using some online calculators to keep track of what calorie intake is right for you. Then make sure you stick to it!

Weight loss at work
As I sit and write this I'm getting fit. Fair, I'm not actually at work... but this trick can definitely be used in an office. Switch your desk chair with a big rubber ball. It will look silly- but your core will appreciate it and your coworkers will be jealous of those sweet abs hiding beneath your business suit.
This doesn't have anything to do with weight loss....
I love this video

Be thinner by dinner
Do you find yourself snacking and eating enormous meals throughout the day? here's a trick... drink. water. seriously, it sounds simple but the more water you drink the more full your stomach will be. Besides, half the time people recognize thirst to be hunger- so instead of digging in... drink up! you'll have consumed less calories by the end of the day and you'll be free to enjoy a guiltless healthy dinner!
Weight loss with your boss?
Weight loss in the office? it's more common than you may think. These days a lot of companies are hosting weight lost programs or friendly weight loss competitions- and the winner gets paid! Maybe you could consider talking to your boss and starting one of these weight loss programs!
Too hot to trot?
As the season heats up it's getting harder and harder to get out and exercise (trot). Try moving your workouts outside to early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the heat. Making this shift can certainly help in your weight loss goal!

Weight loss for the world cup
Have you been admiring those amazing ab's of the south africans? The legs of the brazillians? Those strapping young men work hard for their bodies- its their job! If you're a futbol fan like I am try turning this month into a weight loss month dedicated to getting a world cup class body. Every time you watch a game do some crunches, curls and squats. By July 11th those players won't have nothing on your hot bod.
Sneaks to get sleek
Did you know running shoes get worn out? The average life span of running shoes is about 500 miles. Are your sneaks too old? It may be time to retire those bad boys for a new pair. All in the name of weight loss, right?
Weight Loss Mantra
While trying to lose weight it's super important to work out. Motivation to get moving can be fleeting- especially on Monday's! Instead of thinking of Monday as the first day of the week, think of it as Day one of your Work out week! Make this shift and you'll be that much closer to weight loss!
Time for a flat belly tip!
Bellies are a tough area to tone. One crucial part of having a trim stomach is making sure your digestive system is working properly. Water, thats right, water.. is a perfect way to keep your belly flat. By constantly flushing your system you'll rid your body of the toxins making your belly not so flat!

Weight Loss if you floss!
Losing weight requires thousands of simple tips. One of my favorites is none other than keeping up good dental hygiene! No seriously, though, try it. After a meal immediately brush and floss your teeth. After freshening your mouth you'll be much less likely go back for second snacks or extra nibbles. Ultimately you'll be eating less: this change will help with weight loss!
Make it stick: Keep the motivation up for weight loss
We all know how hard it is to stick to a weight loss plan. When the refrigerator beckons of the pantry calls your name, enticing you to indulge in an unhealthy, unplanned snack, try this tip to stay on track. Tape a phrase to the door to remind yourself of your get-fit-goal. Try "Will this help you loose weight?" or "Don't loose focus! Keep up the motivation!". Friendly, uplifting reminders can help you stick to your weight loss goal.
